Last night, Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros concluded their two-night stand at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The event marked 50 years since Weir debuted his 1972 debut album, Ace. In continuation with night one, Brittney Spencer and Tyler Childers sat in for a few tunes, in addition to a surprise guest, Weir’s Dead & Company bandmate, John Mayer.

The concert kicked off with a solo Weir taking the stage to debut his new song, “She Knows What I’m Thinkin’,” the founding member of the Grateful Dead was joined by members of the band to take on Eddie Cooley’s “Fever,” and followed up with “Jackstraw,” which featured solos by Jeff Chimenti and Jay Lane, who sang a few verses on the fan-favorite.

Childers sat in next and lent his vocals on “Greatest Story Ever Told.” The band then performed a chilling “Black-Throated Wind” before Spencer took the stage for “Walking In The Sunshine,” which marked the third-ever live performance of the Ace tune, following the night prior and 2010 debut with Weir’s side project, RatDog.

Before the next song, Weir spoke to the crowd about writing music with John Barlow and plugged his forthcoming book. Then, things heated up with “Mexicali Blues” and only got hotter on “One More Saturday Night.” The first set concluded with “Cassidy,” which featured outstanding violin and sax solos from the Wolf Pack.

Set two kicked off with Childers joining in on “Mama Tried.” The tune, originally performed by Merle Haggard, sounded as if it was written for Childers, his vocals perfectly equipped to take on the range of the ditty. Next, the band performed a lively “Turn On Your Love Light,” which brought nearly everyone in the audience to their feet, howling, “Let it shine, let it shine, let it…” What followed was one for the books, a monumental take on “Terrapin Station Suite.”

As is a longstanding Sunday tradition, Weir performed “Samson & Delilah,” with Spencer who added her signature twang to the biblical tune. Unannounced guest, Mayer joined next and stuck around till the concert’s end. For his first song with the band, he applied guitar and vocals to a crowd stirring “Sugar Magnolia,” which segued into “The Other One” and “Morning Dew.” The second set closed with “Sunshine Daydream.”

After a rapid break, the band returned for a single song encore, taking on “Not Fade Away.” The song was received by the crowd, who sang the lyrics back to the band while they played the instrumentals, creating a beautiful symbiotic moment to end the night.
