Tedeschi Trucks Band concluded their three-night run at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. on Saturday. The 12-piece ensemble spent each of their three evenings at the historic venue–from March 24 through 26–smoothly rolling out unmistakable guitar work, soulful vocal harmonies and a sense of unity onstage any music lover would be hard-pressed to find and enjoy anywhere else.

Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks led the group with a single set Thursday evening flush with tribute covers and originals–exploring the roots of blues and rock and showing the bounty their own. They performed covers by The Box Tops, Delaney & Bonnie, Derek and the Dominos, John Prine, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and more on the first night alone. The evening also saw vocalist Mike Mattison, share his original song “Life Is Crazy.”

The second evening was served as a traditional two-set affair. They opened with Paul Pena’s “Anyhow, Gonna Move” and jammed through an impressive array of covers each doused in their trademark Tedeschi Trucks Band sonic dye. Highlights included a stilling cover of Willie Nelson’s “Somebody Pick Up My Pieces, Derek Trucks Band original “Joyful Noise” and a set one closing jam of “Midnight In Harlem” > “Made Up Mind.”

Friday’s second set opened with George Harrison’s “Isn’t It a Pity” and TTB’s “Right On Time,” before flowing into The Allman Brothers Band staple “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’.” They continued with originals, covers and rousing powerhouse duel drum solos from percussionists Tyler Greenwell and Isaac Eady. They closed the second set with Leonard Feather/Jane Feather’s “How Blue Can You Get?” and encored with “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free” by Billy Taylor.

Tedeschi Trucks Band’s final performance of the weekend opened with four originals– “Signs,” “High Times,” “Don’t Drift Away,” and “Misunderstood”–before playing their first cover of the evening, the unmistakable “Suzanne” by Leonard Cohen. Next came “Everybody’s Got to Change Sometime” by Taj Mahal and a Tedeschi original “Just Won’t Burn.” Next came “Anyday” by Derek and the Domino’s which included an interpolation of The Allman Brothers Band’s “Jessica.” They bookended the set with more originals – “When Will I Begin” and “The Storm.”

For their final set of the run, TTB got deep into their shared and spirited on-stage energy and broke into “Soul Serenade” which was capped off by the Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree.” Next came “Laugh About It” followed by the chants interlaced throughout the late Dr. John’s “I Walk on Guilded Splinters.” They flowed into another Tedeschi single, “Looking for Answers,” yet again showcasing her soulful and powerful vocals. The skillful displays continued with “Learn How to Love” which featured another tight and shared drum solo from the two percussionists. The penultimate track was a cover of James Taylor’s “Fire and Rain” and they closed the show with “Bound for Glory.”

Before their encore, concert promoter and Relix publisher, Peter Shapiro, stepped on stage to present them with a large silver trophy with “Thank You For Rocking Our Souls” engraved on its base. Tedeschi Trucks Band closed with Bobby “Blue” Bland’s “I Pity the Fool.”
