Joe Pascarell, lead singer and co-founder of The Machine, the oldest U.S. Pink Floyd tribute band, has died. The cause of death has not been released.

His bandmates shared the news via their Instagram page, “It is with the most broken hearts that we announce the passing of our friend, bandmate, and brother, Joe Pascarell.” They continued, “We’re eternally grateful for the lifetime of friendship and music we’re shared on-stage and off, and we know he will be with us as we continue on.”

In 1988, Pascarell and Tahrah Cohen formed The Machine in New York. Pascarell left the band in 2000, taking a nine-month hiatus, and again in 2012. He returned to the band in the fall of 2015 and has remained a member ever since.

Celebrated for his extensive Pink Floyd knowledge and ability to float between Roger Waters and David Gilmour numbers, Joe Pascarell embodied the energy and spirit of Pink Floyd for over 30 years.
