Blues Traveler have scrapped their 2021 touring plans, following a bus accident that left frontman John Popper injured.

News broke of the crash in August – as Blues Traveler were driving between shows on their summer tour, their tour bus veered off the road and crossed over a median in Minnesota. At the time the band wrote, “Thankfully we are all safe and have only sustained minor injuries.”

However, on Sept. 21, Popper updated fans via social media, lamenting some ongoing pain in his right knee and suspecting a torn ligament.

“…I am reluctantly fearfully looking at getting crutches…and will definitely have to once again try the gig from a tall chair,” wrote Popper. “I’ve done this before, but each solid stance on my right can mean electric…shock-like pain…I will be damned if we’re gonna quit because of this… I know it may come to that if this injury becomes too difficult a battle living on a bus, but I’m not going down without a fight.”

And while the band has yet to make an official statement, the news of their touring cancelation arrived when their gig at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre was canceled.

“Blues Traveler is very sad to announce the cancellation of the remainder of their 2021 tour dates, due to the injury John Popper sustained in the band’s recent bus accident,” the venue wrote. “Tix will be automatically refunded at the point of purchase. We’re wishing John a speedy recovery!”
