After stirring up controversy with his track “This Has Gotta Stop,” Eric Clapton has announced a new, mostly acoustic album dubbed The Lady In The Balcony: Lockdown Sessions.
The collection was recorded by longtime Clapton associate Russ Titelman at Cowdray House in West Sussex, England with backing musicians like bassist Nathan East, drummer Steve Gadd and keyboardist Chris Stainton.
It will also feature new versions of Clapton favorites like “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out,” “Key to the Highway,” “After Midnight,” “Layla,” “Bell Bottom Blues” and “Tears in Heaven.”
Reads a press release, “The project was initiated as the result of the forced cancellation of Eric Clapton’s concerts scheduled for May 2021 at the Royal Albert Hall due to the continued disruption caused by the pandemic. Looking for a viable alternative and hoping to keep his options open, he reconvened with his band to the English countryside and staged a concert in the presence of only the participants themselves while letting the cameras roll. (Clapton’s wife Melia, the sole outside observer inspired the Sessions title.)”

September 11, 2021 at 10:33 amPeople have a right to not get the vaccine, just like people have the right to not let them into places. White supremacists, on the other hand, are not good people, even if Trump thinks so. Try defending that.

September 10, 2021 at 2:11 pmImagine being vaccinated thinking you’re safe from catching or spreading Covid – and you do just that – you put your nose in the air and you present your Covid butthole tattoo to see 10 more phish shows. But it’s you. You’re the problem. A first world problem. Hope It was worth it. Did you throw a glow stick? Selfish.

September 9, 2021 at 6:53 pmI agree. Been a fan since 68 when I saw the Cream.
I’ve seen his best work.
He’s entitled to his unrelivant opinion.

September 9, 2021 at 6:05 pmNobody said a word about Hendrix or Stevie Ray. If Clapton comes on I change the station. Flat out stupid person. His position may kill people. Very much an ex-fan.

September 9, 2021 at 3:00 pmI credit Clapton, Mule, Derek, Warren, the Stones, the Allmans and many others for their take on Delta, Chicago and all blues in between. They lead me to understand Robert Johnson and fully appreciate their interpretations of his music. As for the vaccine it’s an individual choice that would be considered differently if the truth wasn’t suppressed. Clapton’s account of loss of feeling in his arms and hands gets out because his voice is heard. Many more have similar accounts of the same; of blood clots, blurry or loss of vision, permanent headaches and more due to the Spike Proteins multiplying unchecked and sticking to blood vessel and capillary walls. It’s shameful that these documented cases are removed from most social media platforms as being labeled as “false info”. Joseph Gerbals is alive and well! On a lighter note – may I also say that I wish my Martins sounded as open and resonate as the ones Clapton owns!! Rock on Eric!!!

September 9, 2021 at 3:20 pmSorry ED, you don’t know what you’re talking about and spreading lies. I’ve heard about problems with vaccine reactions for many months. What is being “suppressed”? You’re suppressing the truth right now. Studies have proved that you’re far more likely to die or have permanent health issues from C0VID19 than from the vaccine. Two of my family members have been fighting this pandemic from day one at a clinic and a hospital. I’ll trust their hundreds of hours work over your horse shit.

September 9, 2021 at 3:30 pmMany more have similar accounts of parents dying, of children dying, of friends dying from COVID due to the unvax’d. It’s not an allowable personal choice to shoot someone in the face; it shouldn’t be an allowable personal choice to harbor and transmit a deadly virus.
goodnightrose
September 9, 2021 at 4:10 pmDo tell us about all the deadly viruses you worried about harboring and transmitting before the TV told you to. How many shows did you miss because the venue wasn’t demanding proof of its patrons’ 30% effective flu shot prior to Feb 2020? People getting sick and dying is not a new development. What IS new is this weird need to make it the fault of our perceived political enemies. That this “vaccine” does nothing to confer immunity or stop transmission makes such hysterical groupthink nonsense that much more pathetic.

September 9, 2021 at 6:35 pmEd — please explain how people are dying of Covid due to the unvaxxed… is it because CNN told ya? Then explain what good the vaccination is if vaccinated people are dying… Thanks Ed

September 9, 2021 at 2:55 pmTo all of you, when did the universal language of humanity become such an avenue for hate? This last year plus has been hard on everyone and has clearly frayed many a nerve. You may or may not agree with Clapton or any number of others who have made their opinions known. Leave it be and enjoy whatever music makes you happy.
This affects everyone
September 9, 2021 at 3:50 pmUnfortunately, the personal choices that he advocates kill others and take up hospital beds, preventing vaccinated people from being treated for NON-COVID illnesses in emergency rooms.

September 9, 2021 at 2:19 pmI absolutely adore Mr. Clapton’s work. I’ve been listening to him for well over 50 years. (He’s 13 years older than me). An incredible guitarist, one of the all-time greats. A fine singer. I’m quite pleased to see many lesser known songs interspersed with his revisiting the more familiar ones. Is that the same Bad Boy song from his first solo album…

September 9, 2021 at 2:06 pmSo basically he’s recorded another album full of the same songs he’s been playing for years which belong mostly to black American bluesmen like Jimmy Cox and Muddy Waters. Yawn. Also did he ever apologize for his racist rant in 76? Dude is about as relevant as my VCR player

September 9, 2021 at 1:45 pmI support Clapton. He’s free to speak about anything he wants to. If you don’t like his opinion, you can turn the dial or disconnect the stream. The free market will decide.

ABORTVAN
September 9, 2021 at 2:19 pmFunny how Van is perfectly OK with the government telling his wife/girlfriend that under no circumstances can they get an abortion if they wanted/needed to. One would think “freedom” and “less government” would include a woman’s right to choose what they want to do with their own body. But no, redneck man control redneck woman.

September 11, 2021 at 2:25 amActually, no, one wouldn’t think freedom would include the “right” to violently murder your own child.
