Dave Matthews Band cofounders Carter Beauford and Stefan Lessard will sit out this weekend’s shows at George, Wash.’s The Gorge due to a potential exposure to the Covid-19 virus. Shortly before Dave Matthews Band were slated to kick off their annual run at the Northwest venue, the group posted the following message on their socials: “Despite thorough safety protocols, a potential exposure to the Covid-19 virus within the organization has taken place. In the best interest of everyone’s health and safety, @davematthewsband will perform this weekend’s shows in an alternate format. We love playing the Gorge and are grateful to all of you who are joining us this weekend.”
After he took the stage to introduce this evening’s opening acts, Dumpstaphunk and Allen Stone, Matthews broke the news that it was Beauford and Lessard who would miss this evening’s shows. Of note, Dumpstaphunk bassist Tony Hall played with the band’s namesake in his Dave Matthews & Friends side-project.

September 4, 2021 at 11:13 amI have to say that for over 2 & 1/2 decades attending shows, meeting other fellow fans who’ve been the most kind and caring people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting & conversing with over different social media sites and forums. I’m totally baffled at how 2,3 & 4 faced supposed “die hard” & “DMB Lovers” are!! I’m disguted at how the “fans” are being so self centered and not giving a sh*t about the health of Carter, Stefan or the rest of the band & staff. I hope that these “fans” aren’t showing their true colors and change the tune of the selfish melodramatic meltdowns about how Dave Matthews himself has become a government plant to push vaccinations.

September 4, 2021 at 10:46 amIf this wasn’t the Gorge which is their big Labor Day weekend gathering every year I think they would have cancelled this show and a few upcoming shows. People travel around the country yearly to go to the DMB Gorge Labor Day weekend shows which is why I think they decided to go on with the show.

September 4, 2021 at 10:03 amWith Carter and Stefan sidelined, LeRoi Moore passed on into eternity, and Boyd Tinsley persona non gratis, Dave is the only original member left in the group. Not really the DMB anymore, more like the Dave Matthews Experience.

September 4, 2021 at 9:23 amWell the whole band has been “vaccinated”.. DMB decided any attending would have proof of SHOT or covid test… Sooooooo maybe DMB should’ve stick to music stop interfering with medical freedoms as they know nothing about it.. Obviously

September 7, 2021 at 10:28 amYou are free to not get the vaccine that will prevent your serious illness or death. But the venues and private businesses are also free to not allow you to enter their premises without a vaccine. It’s called a free market. Enjoy it.
