The Disco Biscuits celebrated their City Bisco run on July 9 and 10, returning to their hometown of Philadelphia for four sets of jams, complete with a sit-in by bassist Marc Brownstein’s Electron bandmate Tom Hamilton.

As a nod to the City of Brotherly Love, the run began with the band’s first-ever performance of the theme from Rocky aka “Gonna Fly Now.”

The band then bled into “Spaga” and the Pink Floyd classic “Run Like Hell.”

Interestingly, “Run Like Hell” would return later that evening in tandem with Hamilton’s encore appearance, which originated with the Electron/Biscuits favorite “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a.”

The Disco Biscuits’ second evening in Philadelphia – July 10 – also included the weekend’s biggest bustout, set-one ending rendition of “Trucker’s Choice,” last played on Nov. 17, 2017 (show gap: 117 shows).

The entire weekend was also dotted by the Biscuits exploratory, now-signature “Tractorbeam Jams.”

“Philly – it’s always been home,” the band wrote after the run.
