Today, at 5 p.m. ET, keyboardist Marco Benevento and drummer Joe Russo will perform a surprise acoustic set at Relix Studio in New York City. The performance will be streamed for free on The Relix Channel on Twitch.
The pop-up set marks a rare acoustic performance by the Duo. The two first began performing as a duo back in 2001. They subsequently released four studio records, including 2005’s Best Reason to Buy the Sun and 2006’s Play Pause Stop.
Benevento and Russo also perform together in Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, who recently announced a three-night, socially distanced run at New Haven’s Westville Music Bowl. The band will perform there on May 28, 29 and 30.

March 30, 2021 at 11:18 amFor sure, what an odd trajectory these cats have taken. Saw them in ’07 at a small theatre and was pretty well blown away. Original, relevant, energetic music. Now they’re a beer belly of a cover band with super (musically) lazy fans. Argh.

March 30, 2021 at 12:18 pmThey, like many others, figured out that you can just keep humping the Dead corpse and people will pay. I’ll admit I’ve seen JRAD live, and it’s fun and all…but I’d MUCH rather pay to see The Duo play original music. But at the end of the day, I can’t really blame them for following the $$$ to some degree
