Out Dec. 4, the newest edition of the GarciaLive series showcases Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders’ May 21, 1971 gig in San Francisco.
Garcia and Saunders’ palpable musical chemistry was rounded out by Martin Fierro on saxophone and Bill Vitt on drums, and to stoke excitement for the release, fans can now listen to the show’s 16+ minute “Keystone Korner Jam.”
As press release notes, the wide-spanning improvised segment is a “funky jazz-fusion romp,” and “while Saunders is credited with teaching Garcia ‘regular, straight’ music, there’s certainly no evidence of anything mundane here.”
Pre-order GarciaLive Vol. 15 here.

Not selling
November 10, 2020 at 2:57 pmSelling so well you released another droning track after that brutal Wall Song. Do better this and the Maria Fulcher release are very low points
a tad snarky, but...
November 10, 2020 at 3:11 pmI agree! Come on! Just release the entire god damned Legion of Mary run. That shit is pure gold. This (and the Maria Fulcher) was probably cool in person, but was never intended for posterity.

November 11, 2020 at 9:14 amWhen being played originally, I doubt the Legion of Mary stuff was thought of, or intended, as to posterity.

I absolutely loved the Lisa Fulcher ‘stuff’, namely Find a Rainbow and Climb a Mountain, and Expressway to Your Heart and Georgia on my Mind covers. The only problem I found with the recent Boarding House release was that the night released wasn’t near as good as I believe the 24th of January, that I nearly wore out on Maxell XL II S soundboard tapes in the 1990’s.
