This week, Grateful Dead HQ are looking back at the band’s June 1993 stop at Ohio’s Buckeye Lake for the All The Years Live series, spotlighting a second set version of “The Wheel.”

Explains GD legacy manager/archivist David Lemieux, “‘The Wheel’ debuted on Jerry’s first solo record in 1972, but wasn’t played live by the Grateful Dead until 1976. From 1977 onward, it was generally (but not always) a song that came out of Drums, and a bit later, Space. The introduction to the song on Jerry’s solo record includes some of Jerry’s best recorded pedal steel playing.”

Previous “All The Years Live” selections from this Summer ’93 gig have included a “Feel Like A Stranger,” “Foolish Heart” and “So Many Roads.”
