Dave Matthew Band played the first of two nights at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in Elkhorn, WI, on Friday night, and the group welcomed members of opening act Preservation Hall Jazz Band for a special tribute to New Orleans legend Dr. John.
Near the middle of a set that featured DMB staples like “Too Much,” “Warehouse,” “Crush,” “Dancing Nancies,” “What Would You Say,” “Don’t Drink the Water,” “Two Step” and “Ants Marching,” Matthews and company welcomed out all of the NOLA collective to the stage for their debut cover of “Right Place, Wrong Time,” one of Dr. John’s most well-known compositions. The Crescent city icon passed away last month.
Check out the full setlist from last night below, along with fan-shot video of the Dr. John cover collaboration. Dave Matthews Band return to Alpine Valley tonight for round two.
