Irving Plaza has long been one of New York’s most iconic live music venues—with Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Paul McCartney being just a few acts to grace the stage there. Now, the Plaza will close this summer for eight months to receive a multi-million-dollar renovation.

The renovation plan includes a redecoration of the venue’s main entrance, as well as the addition of new bars and a VIP Lounge located in the basement. New box seating is also being added to the Mezzanine level.

“We’re thrilled to embark on a dramatic renovation of one of the world’s most treasured music venues,” said Arich Berghammer, executive Vice President of Live Nation Clubs & Theaters, in a press release. “When we unveil these experimental upgrades, both artists and fans will enjoy an unparalleled musical experience.”

Irving Plaza currently has shows booked through the end of June and plans to reopen at a date in 2020 after the renovations.
