This past weekend, Dave Matthews lent his voice to a new episode of long-running Fox animated series The Simpsons, in which Matthews plays a bartender who speaks with Homer during a hallucination.
The scene, which can be seen below in an Instagram post from DMB Gorge Crew, comes in season 30, episode 19, titled “Girl’s in the Band.” The interaction plays off a scene from the classic horror film The Shining, with Homer’s sleep-deprived brain causing him to conjure up imaginary visions, including Matthews’ bartender, who has some questionable advice for Homer regarding his family.
In other news, Dave Matthews Band are currently on the last legs of their European tour, and the band has been fitting some rarer tunes into their set over the past few outings, most notably at their stop in Vienna, Austria, last week, when Matthews and company offered their “Anyone Seen the Bridge” segue after set-opener “So Much to Say,” leading into “Too Much.” As dmbalmanac.com notes, the segue originally comes from a 1996 jam that ended up sounding like Led Zeppelin’s “The Crunge” (in which Robert Plant famously asks, “Has anyone seen the bridge?”), thus giving the snippet its name. DMB use the segue to move out of “So Much to Say,” though they hadn’t utilized it since May 2016. The band again played the same transition on Saturday night in Padua, Italy, where they also continued their recent teasing of “Kill the Preacher,” which hasn’t been played in full since fall 2015.
Dave Matthews Band wrap up their European stint this week with shows in Milan, Italy, and Lisbon, Portugal.
