On Dec. 29, Tom Marshall and Steve Pollak a.k.a. “The Dude of Life,” recounted the early days of Phish on the Osiris Couch Tour, including a cosmic meeting of legendary Grateful Dead guitarist Jerry Garcia and Phish’s Trey Anastasio.

After host RJ Bee chats with Federal Donuts co-owner Felicia D’Ambrosio and Relix’s Mike Greenhaus about the band’s Dec. 28 show, The Dude of Life and Tom Marshall share a few tunes and Phish stories. The most exciting moment comes when The Dude of Life recalls the time he and Anastasio tracked Jerry Garcia down at a hotel and slid a Stanley Jordan album under his door.

“The one word that Jerry said to us was ‘Thanks,'” The Dude of Life remembers. “…The symbolic thing is that the door never opened but then over 20 years later, Trey was filling Jerry’s shoes at Fare Thee Well. And that’s just a beautiful thing.”
