Soundgarden have released “Storm,” their first new song in two years since the group returned with their 2012 album King Animal. Stream the tune here.

No context on the release was made available, however a B-sides and rarities compilation has been in the works for quite a while. Guitarist Kim Thayil told Alternative Press that there’s “maybe two dozen songs that were never released” but that he doesn’t “think those would be included on a B-sides thing.”

Soundgarden is currently off the road but did perform a pair of acoustic sets at the Bridge School Benefit where Chris Cornell also joined Pearl Jam for a temporary Temple of the Dog reunion.
