Following moe.‘s successful food drive at their show on February 18 at Chicago’s Riviera Theater, the group will now host a second food drive to benefit Family House at Stage AE in Pittsburgh, PA on March 8. About Family House, guitarist Al Schnier says:

The Family House in Pittsburgh is an amazing institution that not only provides residency for families of those undergoing organ transplant procedures at the University Hospital, but also provides a quiet home away from home where families can share stories, meals, & offer each other much needed support. Like so many gatherings, the kitchen often becomes the place where everyone sits & talks.

Our family stayed here over 20 years ago when my dad had his liver transplant, & again just over a year ago when he came back, during his final days. The Family House, its volunteer staff, & the many guests here, gave us some of the best support we could get—kindness & companionship. All of the families, displaced from our homes, would come together in the kitchen & share our stories. The fully furnished kitchen was a nice alternative to the hospital cafeteria. Simple things like grocery shopping can be very challenging, as you spend most of your waking hours in the hospital. Much of the food in our pantry was graciously provided by the kindness of others.

Now that moe. has returned to Pittsburgh, I hope that we can return some of that kindness to the Family House.

Keep an eye on moe.‘s homepage for details on the upcoming food drive.
