Back in early 2000 Peter Shapiro joined Jambands.com as the site’s publisher. A few years later, Relix magazine came on board as Shapiro moved on to focus on other endeavors (The Jammys, Green Apple Festival, Brooklyn Bowl, U23D). Shapiro has now returned to his prior role as he is now serving as publisher of Relix as well as Jambands.com and Relix.com.
A number of longstanding Relix employees will remain as part of the new Relix Media Group team. Josh Baron continues as editor-in-chef of the magazine, where he is joined by Mike Greenhaus (who becomes Vice President of the Relix Media Group and Executive Editor of Relix). Rachel Seiden steps up as Associate Publisher and Senior Vice President. Cole Boyle will be Vice President, Sales & Marketing and Dale Hirschman will serve as Chief Financial Officer. Jambands.com site editor/founder Dean Budnick will continue in his role at the site and will share the title of Relix Executive Editor with Greenhaus, while also becoming Senior Vice President of Digital.
Budnick, who notes that he is now the Relix staffer with longest tenure (the plaque must be in the mail) adds, ‘All of these developments are great news for our readers and the bands we cover. Our core team has been working towards this for some time now and we’re just so psyched to be able to make the official announcement. We have quite a bit planned, including our long-discussed site redesign. There’s plenty more on the horizon as well. So please join us for the ride…’
