This evening in San Francisco, Will Bernard, John Medeski, Stanton Moore and Andy Hess will begin a week of gigs in support of Bernard’s Blue Plate Special release. The four musicians recorded the album in early 2008 and the disc hit last fall but it has taken some time for the quartet finally to schedule a run of dates. Bernard told Jambands.com that is he is looking forward to the seven shows stating, ‘This to me is a dream team of modern jazz funk. The combination of experience, inventiveness and a commitment to the music is awesome.’ Following tonight’s sold-out gig at the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the group will travel to Los Angeles (3/21, The Roxy), Denver (3/22, The Oriental), Boulder (3/23, Fox Theater), Ft. Collins (3/24, Hodi’s Half Note), Falls Church, VA (3/25, State Theater) and New York City (3/26, Highline Ballroom).
