John Medeski will peform with one of his early educators on stage next month in Albany. Lee Shaw once studied with Oscar Peterson and subsequently appeared with Dexter Gordon, Thad Jones, Chico Hamilton, Pepper Adams and many others. Medeski began his tutorials with Shaw back when he was thirteen years old and will once again will work with the pianist and composer, who is now in her eighties. On April 5, Medeski will join the Lee Shaw Trio, which also features Jeff Siegel on drums and Rich Syracuse on bass for a gig at Albany’s Egg Center for the Performing Arts.
