After spending some time out West, Marco Benevento returned to his Brooklyn hometown on Saturday night for a trio gig. Joining Benevento at The Bell House were his longtime friends, The Slip rhythm section of Marc Friedman and Andrew Barr. Joe Russo also was in the house and added percussion on multiple occasions over the course of the evening. In addition, the third member of The Slip, Brad Barr (who had opened the show), stepped in along with Russo at the close of the night for the new Benevento tune, ‘Greenpoint’ as well as an extended version of Deerhoof’s ‘Twin Killers.’ Benevento will head down to SXSW later this month to help celebrate his new disc, Me Not Me.
