Last weekend in San Francisco, Galactic closed out its Brass Tacks Fall Tour, which featured an expanded horn section with Shamarr Allen on trumpet and Corey Henry adding trombone. The band has only one other confirmed show for 2008, the annual New Year’s Eve gig in its native New Orleans at Tipitina’s, with Allen and Henry slated to augment the line-up once again. After that the band heads down to Florida, for a series of shows that will bookend its appearance on Jam Cruise. Then on February 4, the group will travel to Detroit to open its Winter Tour with a performance at the Majestic. Galactic will remain on the road through February 23, winding their way back to New Orleans. The Mighty Underdogs featuring Gift of Gab, Lateef the Truth Speaker and Headnodic will open the first five shows, while JJ Grey and MOFRO will join most of the dates to follow.
