Shortly after announcing the release of _Rocking the Cradle: Grateful
Dead, Egypt 1978_, the Grateful Dead has confirmed that the next
installment in its Road Trips series will capture the final two nights of
the From Egypt With Love run the group hosted at San Francisco’s
Winterland a month after they returned from Cairo. Each night the band
treated its hometown crowd to an extensive slide show of their travels
and, at two of the concerts, invited out the Egyptian-born Hamza El Din
for a take on ‘Ollin Arageed.’ Other guests included War harmonica player
Lee Oskar and guitarist John Cipollina, the latter of whom helped the
group through its first ‘Caution Jam’ in four years, among other songs.
Like the other installments in the series, fans who preorder _Road Trips
Vol. 1, No. 4_ will receive a bonus disc featuring additional material
culled from these performances, as well as the first From Egypt With Love show.
