On Friday George Porter Jr. and Russell Batiste will perform at Gathering of the Vibes with their current project PBS. Immediately after, the longtime collaborators will return home to New Orleans for a gig at the Balcony Music Club. The rhythm section will be rounded out by another pair of familiar faces, Ivan Neville and Ian Neville, for what has been billed as a one night only gig. Looking ahead, Porter, Batiste and Ian Neville will also perform together as the Funky Meters at Saratoga, CAs The Mountain Winery on September 14.
