Chuck Leavell first made his name as a member of the Allman Brothers Band, but has spent the past 20 years playing keyboards with The Rolling Stones. And before the Stones hit the road for another victory lap, Leavell will release the solo album Live In Germany: The Green Leaves and Blue Notes Tour on May 13. The two-disc set was recorded on September 14, 2007 for the German radio station HR1, shortly after the close of the Rolling Stones A Bigger Bang tour, with the aid of noted German musicians like drummer Paul Hter, bassist Christian Diener, saxophonist Lutz Her and guitarist Frank Kuruc. Throughout the set, the keyboardist runs through a mix of material, including The Allman Brothers Jessica and Statesboro Blues (with a cameo appearance by Henning Eichler on harmonica), The Rolling Stones Honky Tonk Woman and Rip this Joint, Les McCann and Eddie Harris Compared to What, Ray Charles Georgia, George Harrisons Here Comes the Sun and the standards In the Wee Wee Hours and Route 66, as well as a handful of originals.
