As previously reported, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey will hit the road this spring behind their first studio album in three years. Today the trio has also confirmed some additional details about the project, which will hit stores on April 8. Lil Tae Rides Again is being billed as the group’s ‘most experimental, idiosyncratic and mind-expanding album yet,’ and finds founding members Brian Haas and Reed Mathis exploring a more song-oriented, rock-centric direction. The 11 track recording was produced by veteran electronic music guru Tae Meyulks and recorded in a 100-plus year old warehouse in the oldest part of the group’s Tulsa hometown, The Bricks. The album finds the trio at a crossroads, with 22-year old drummer Josh Raymer stepping in for Jason Smart. JFJO’s first performance since last fall will take place at Tulsa’s Blank Slate on April 4.
