Boulder-area fans of the Yonder Mountain String Band received a welcome surprise over the weekend. On Sunday morning they were alerted to the fact that the group would perform a special late night gig following Sam Bush’s set at the Fox Theatre to commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the venue. Tickets went on sale Sunday morning at the Fox box office and the show followed about twelve hours later. Danny Barnes guested on banjo for much of the first set, while second set highlights included a closing run from ‘Snow on the Pines’ into ‘No Expectations’ through ‘Traffic Jam,’ ’2 Hits and The Joint Turned Brown’ and back into ‘Traffic Jam.’ Next up for Yonder is Jam in the Dam, before the group’s spring U.S. Tour.
