A few years ago the Persuasions recorded a CD of a cappella Grateful Dead songs. David Gans produced Might as Well…The Persuasions Sing Grateful Dead, which presented covers of fourteen Dead originals along with the traditional, I Bid You Goodnight. Last evening at the North Fork Theater in Westbury, NY the Persuasions joined Bob Weir and RatDog for two of these tunes, appearing at the close of the first set and contributing vocals to Liberty and Mighty As Well.
On the previous night, also at the North Fork, RatDog took the stage in Halloween costumes. Drummer Jay Lane appeared as drummer Buddy Rich circa 1978 and performed the Richs Cute along with Jeff Chimenti, Kenny Brooks and Robin Sylvester. As for other costumes, Weir dressed as a rasta/hippie while Mark Karan performed as a cop. The band closed out the evening with ‘Werewolves of London during which a costumed Bonus Bobby appeared in similar t-shirt, shorts and sandals.
RatDog will resume its tour tomorrow at Albanys Palace Theater.
