Last night at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, Govt Mule debuted a cover of The Meters Africa. Joining in for the song, which closed out the first set, was Meters guitarist Leo Nocentelli. The selection was fitting not only due to Nocentelli’s presence, but also because Los Angeles is the home base of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who recorded a version of the tune (as ‘Hollywood (Africa)’) on their Freaky Styley release.
Tonight, Govt Mule is at the Lake Havasu Rock Fest in Lake Havasu, AZ and then it resumes its tour with Donavon Frankenreiter on Saturday at the Open Air Amphitheatre in San Diego, CA. Meanwhile, the Wednesday October 11 show has been moved from the Santa Cruz Auditorium to the Cocoanut Grove.
