The Allman Brothers Band brought its summer tour to a conclusion on Friday night at Red Rocks. The group closed things out with a performance that featured family members and extended family members alike joining the ABB. Early on, Gregg Allmans son Devon took the stage on guitar for Midnight Rider. On the next song, Gregg Allman and Friends drummer James van der Bogert joined on for Anyday. A bit later in the evening, Warren Haynes Gov’t Mule bandmates, keyboardist Danny Louis and bassist Andy Hess appeared during The Weight.
The Yonder Mountain String Band performed an extended opening set on Friday and remained for a co-bill with Govt Mule the next night. Also returning was Gregg Allman who joined with Warren Haynes for a special acoustic set on Saturday that included versions of Come & Go Blues, Old Before My Time, Come On Into My Kitchen. Soulshine and Melissa. Allman later re-emerged during the Mule set proper, lending vocals to a cover of Feel So Bad. While the Allman Brothers Band is now off, presumably until next springs Beacon Theater run (assuming the Beacon still stands), the groups members will be touring in the weeks and months to come, with Oteil & Peacemakers and Gov’t Mule both gigging throughout September.
