Bill Kreutzmanns son, Justin, has been experimenting with film for much of his life, shooting a music video for Jerry Garcia and Dave Grisman before his 25th birthday. Currently, Kreutzmann is working on a film tracking the rise of Tea Leaf Green, which Kreutzmann describes as a cross between the Grateful Dead Movie and Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Amusement Park or a hybrid of The Last Waltz and the Sex Pistols The Filth and the Fury. On May 19 Kreutzmann will film Tea Leaf Greens performance at Boulders Fox Theatre for his forthcoming film. They’re the first young band I’ve heard in a while that gave me hope that there is a future for Rock and Roll, Kreutzmann writes in his blog, My desire going into the film is to capture all the things I always wished were in the great Rock and Roll documentaries I’ve grown up watching. During the summer month, Kreutzmann will be on the road with the Who and Rachel Fuller, assisting Fuller in her ongoing live music series, In the Attic. For more on the Who and its upcoming summer tour be sure to check out the June issue of Relix.
