In May, Brothers Past’s Tom Hamilton will officially debut his American Babies project with a series of gigs around the Northeast. Over the past few months, the guitarist has composed an albums worth of new material, which owes more to alt-country and singer/songwriter motifs than Brothers Pasts more characteristically electronic material. A number of notable names will flesh out Hamilton’s road band including Joe Russo, Kevin Kendricks and Hamiltons brother Jim, who played in an early incarnation of Brothers Past. American Babies is scheduled to perform on May 10 at Wilkes-Barre, PAs River Street Jazz Cafe, on May 11 at New York’s Knitting Factory, on May 12 at Baltimore’s 8×10 and on June 24’s at Philadelphias World Cafe Live. Before then, be sure to venture over to Relix’s Cold Turkey, where Hamilton previewed a number of American Babies tunes with the aid of The Disco Biscuits’ Aron Magner.
