Sufjan Stevens will take a detour from his proposed 50-states project by releasing a handful of unused tracks from his last release, Illinois. Featuring a number of demos, instrumentals, interludes and alternate takes,The Avalanche will feature 21-track and hit stores on July 11. In addition, the disc will feature appearances from a number of Illinois musicians: drummer James McAlister, trumpeter Craig Montoro and singers Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond), as well as Rosie Thomas. Stevens next scheduled appearance is May 20 at George, WAs The Gorge as part of the Sasquatch Music Festival.
