Vernon Reid is continuing to explore new musical textures with his forthcoming release Other True Self. The aptly-titled second disc from Vernon Reid & Masque presents the Living Colour guitarist in many different contexts, from Latin to reggae to middle eastern. Drummer Marlon Browden has moved on from the first incarnation of Masque but keyboardist Leon Gruenbaum and bass player Hank Schroy are back, along with new drummer Don McKenzie. Other True Self is scheduled for an April 18 release, and while Reid recently wrapped up an extensive European tour, he has not yet announced any U.S. shows to support the disc beyond an appearance at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival on June 9.
