Jimmy Herring, who will appear with Phil Lesh & Friends this weekend in Colorado, will busy himself into the fall with a new touring collective. Herring will be joined on drums by fellow-ARU member Jeff Sipe, the Codetalkers Bobby Lee Rodgers (guitar, banjo and vocals) and Matthew Garrison on bass (Garrison, a prodigious talent is own right, is the son of Jimmy Garrison, who performed in John Coltranes band from 1961-67). Greg Osby will add sax to a few shows as well, although no dates have been announced. In addition to the Phil & Friends shows, Herring is currently appearing with Sipe in Rob Baraccos new project, The Dragonflys. Additional information can be found at the recently-launched JimmyHerring.net.
