Old School Freight Train first came together in the fall of 2000 and within a year the acoustic quintet had already taken top honors at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition. David Grisman signed the group to his Acoustic Disc label and produced the groups forthcoming studio effort Run. Moreover, Grisman is so taken with Old School Freight Train’s sound that he has enlisted the five players to back him for a series of summer shows. OSFT will open these dates with a set and then remain on stage to pick some Dawg Music. The first of these gigs is at New Yorks Town Hall on May 18, with shows to follow into June.
