Tony Furtado will issue his newest release, These Chains, July 27th on Funzalo Records. Though Furtado has fashioned himself both a banjo player and diverse guitarist, this discs singer-songwriter structure separates it from previous releases. Recorded in Los Angeles alongside producer and bassist Dusty Wakeman, Furtados thirteen song collection features collaborations with NRBQs Al Anderson (‘The Prisoner’), Jim Lauderdale (‘Need a Friend’) and Jules Shear (‘Standing in the Rain’). While previous Furtado releases have been largely instrumental, this disc boasts vocals on 12 of its 13 cuts, including the guitarists first stab at singing his self-penned lyrics.
Covers of the traditional ‘Bet on the White Horse,’ Waylon Jenningss ‘Brand New Goodbye Song, and Bob Dylans ‘One Too Many Mornings’ round out the collection. Furtados tour continues Thursday, July 15, at the Bamboo Room in Lake Worth, FL.
