With Winooski, VT’s Higher Ground closing next month, Strangefolk will return for one final gig at the club on April fourth (04/04/04 for those of you scoring at home). However, in scrambling to assemble the band for this gig, drummer Luke Smith found that he had other commitments but the group has asked Russ Lawton to step behind the kit for what has blossomed into a three show run (the group will also perform at the Asylum in Portland, ME on Friday, April 2 and the Bombshelter in Manchester, NH on April 3). As for the decision to play one final gig at Higher Ground, the club’s talent buyer Alex Crothers, comments, We made a short list when we found out that the club was closing on April 15th of our favorite bands and started calling each band for one last play. Strangefolk was first on that list. We couldnt think of a better way to close down the venue weve been running for 6 years than with the talented musicians and great friends that we collectively call Strangefolk. Were honored theyre playing our stage one last time.
