Dave Matthews will release his first solo album, Some Devil September 23 on RCA Records. The disc features Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio on four tracks, including Grey Blue Eyes, which he co-wrote with Matthews. Other musicians that appear include guitarist Tim Reynolds, bassist Tony Hall (Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson) and drummer Brady Blade (Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle). The album was produced by Stephen Harris, who produced the last Dave Matthews Band CD, Busted Stuff. I had written a few songs that never really had a place with the band, so
during a break I decided to go into the studio to see what might develop,’ says Matthews. The sessions grew into a sort of writing and recording experience, something I hadnt really planned on. Eventually the tracks began to take on a personality and grew into an album. Im really excited and I hope people like it.
Anastasio plays on the albums first single, Gravedigger, a song that Matthews has previously played live acoustically. The majority of the record is comprised of brand new material.
