The initial line-up for Bonnaroo 2003 has been announced and it looks to rival last year’s inaugural event. The Dead and Widespread Panic will headline the three-day festival, which returns to the same 600-acre farm in Manchester, TN on the weekend of June 13 – 15. Other acts include James Brown, The Allman Brothers Band, Ben Harper & Innocent Criminals, Jack Johnson, Sonic Youth, Tortoise, moe., Galactic, The Roots, Bela Fleck & the Flecktones, Medeski Martin & Wood, Yonder Mountain String Band, Robert Randolph & the Family Band, Nickel Creek, G. Love and Special Sauce, Sound Tribe Sector 9, O.A.R., North Mississippi Allstars, Warren Haynes (solo acoustic), Keller Williams, Garage A Trois, Kid Koala, Z-Trip, Particle, Antibalas Afrobeat Orchestra, Smokey and Miho, The New Deal, RJD2, The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and Mix Master Mike. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
‘Our goal is not only to present the best established live performers, but also to be a springboard for the next generation of great artists to reach a national audience,’ says Rick Farman of Superfly Presents, which produces the event along with A.C. Entertainment. ‘The Bonnaroo audience is extremely dedicated. Once they are turned on to an artist, they will support them feverishly.’
