Govt Mule has confirmed more guest bass players for its upcoming fall tour. Phishs Mike Gordon will join the group September 19 at the Ulster Performing Arts Center in Kingston, NY. The show is part of the Woodstock Film Festival. Gordons film Rising Low, which documents the making of the Deep End albums, will be screened the following day. Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted will perform with the Mule for four shows in October: 10/9 at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA, 10/10 at Hampden Sydney College in Hampden Sydney, VA, 10/11 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and 10/12 at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia.
Bassists Greg Arzab (Jimmy Page, The Black Crowes, Buddy Guy) and George Porter Jr. (The Meters) will be the tour’s core bass players. Keyboardist Danny Louis will perform throughout the fall, along with founding members Warren Haynes (guitar) and Matt Abts (drums). Widespread Panics Dave Schools will play with the band in late August and early September.
A second leg to the fall tour will be announced later this week.
