MANCHESTER, TN Soulive paused briefly during its afternoon set at Bonnaroo to publicly congratulate Rob Perry and Crissa Carlotti of East Providence, RI, who exchanged wedding vows and rings this morning on the festival site. We wanted to get married on the longest day of the year, the first day of summer, which is of course the solstice, says Perry, a member of the band Pretty Cool Chair. That happened at 9:24 a.m. today. We figured wed take care of everything back in Rhode Island, the paperwork and whatnot and wed do our own ceremony at that exact time. When the solstice was coming up, around 9:15 or so, we were still in traffic coming into Bonnaroo. So we met a couple of friends at the gate, they grabbed our car and we ran. We wanted to find a nice place, maybe in the corner somewhere, but the time was coming up so quickly that we found a Bonnaroo sign [laughs] and exchanged rings and vows right there and now were married.
We left the airport in Nashville last night around 9:30 and didnt make it in until 9:15 this morning, but it was so worth it, says Carlotti, still beaming with excitement. I said to Rob that this is the perfect wedding reception. It couldnt be better.
Tonight, the couple plans to celebrate with a bottle of champagne, among other things.
