The Big Wu will hold a food drive at its Wu Years Eves: 20 Tons of Love shows taking place December 30 and 31 at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul, MN. The December 30 show features The Big Wu, Derek Trucks Band, Sam Bush Band and Sweet Potato Project. The NYE line-up includes The Big Wu, Little Feat, All Mighty Senators and Sweet Potato Project. The band is encouraging each fan that attends the shows to bring four 1-pound cans of non-perishable food. If this happens, enough food will be collected to supply 53,000 meals to people in the Twin City region. These numbers would earn a mention in the Guiness Book of World Records for food gathered at a non-charitable event. Everyone in The Big Wu is getting things started by donating a whole case of something they’d find in their own cupboards, so we hope everyone who comes out will pitch in to help us make a huge and necessary difference,’ says guitarist Chris Castino. ‘We also happen to think the music lineup is outstanding.’ The concerts will benefit Second Harvest Heartland.
