Of all Green Apples musical offerings, the most Jammys-like may be the union of Steve Kimock and Stephen Perkins. After Kimock performed with Perkins Banyan project in Colorado earlier this year, the two California powerhouses created a unique band specifically for Green Apple, which also features Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey bassist Reed Mathis and trumpeter Willie Waldman. Known for his work in the seminal alt-rock combos Jane’s Addition and Porno For Pyros, Perkins may be the only person to have played with both Jerry Cantrell and Jewel. But, since the late-1990s, Perkins has focused his attention on Banyan, whose rotating cast of characters includes Particles Charlie Hitchcock and Mike Watt. During the weekend, Kimock and Perkins will perform three separate shows: Thursday April 20 as part of the Jammys, Friday April 21 at the Canal Room and Saturday April 22 at the Blue Note.
