Like many big events in 2011, Gov’t Mule has confirmed the theme for its annual New Year’s Eve show via Facebook. A post from the band reads, “Come celebrate New Years Eve with Gov’t Mule for Mad Mules & Englishmen at The Beacon Theatre.” While the exact nature of the show is unknown, we can only assume that the band will perform music from Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs & Englishmen. Fittingly, Cocker recorded the album at New York’s Fillmore East in the spring of 1970. Gov’t Mule will return to the stage after almost a year off—sans the occasional festival appearance—for a set at Christmas Jam this weekend.
