U2 will return to the road for Carnaval De Luz presents: The Greatest Show On Earth. While announcing the outing, the group, who recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with a pair of surprise pop-up concerts in Dublin, Ireland, described the dates as the first installment of “a world tour that will see Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr return to select stadiums in 2027 and beyond.”
The Greatest Show On Earth World Tour, which will support the band’s forthcoming 16th studio album Carnaval De Luz, will officially kick off in Mexico City on February 23, 2027. Beck will open the night. From there, U2 and Beck will travel to São Paulo and Buenos Aires; these will be the only three Latin American cities U2 will visit next year. Additional Europe and North America 2027 concerts are set to be announced in the coming weeks, including a homecoming show in Ireland.
“The Greatest Show on Earth”? Now that’s a throwdown. It’s a dare, to ourselves as much as anyone, to try and have the best night of anybody’s life. A bit of showman, a bit of shaman, a riot of colour, unreasonable guitar, bass and drums, and tunes you can hold onto. Because if people are gonna show up, we certainly are,” the group posted in a collective statement.
The tour announcement arrives along with with the release of a new track, “The Greatest Show On Earth.” Co-written by U2 and Brian Eno, it is the third single off Carnaval De Luz. The tune is being called “a story of lovers fighting to keep faith in each other—and faith itself.”
A video for the song, directed by Anton Corbijn, was shot in the Californian desert; satirizing the band as a religious cult where women do all the heavy lifting.
