Last evening at the Everwise Amphitheater at White River State Park in Indianapolis, moe. and Umphrey’s McGee continued the concluding stretch of their moe.mentUM tour. This series of dates began on June 11 and over the two months that followed, the groups have been in and out of each other’s orbit. Each gig has featured individual sets from both groups followed by a UMoe. performance at the end of the night.

On Thursday, moe. appeared first for a set that was bookended by “Yellow Tigers.” Following that tune, the six-piece offered versions of the group’s “Tailspin,” Jethro Tull’s “Locomotive Breath” and moe’s “Stranger Than Fiction.” Then the group delivered an extended sequence that moved from “Three Eyed Serpent” into “The Pit,” “Shoot First,” “Puebla,” “Timmy Tucker” and then finally “Yellow Tigers” once again.

Umphrey’s set also included an lengthy, improv-laden section. The opening “There’s No Crying In Mexico” led into “Cut the Cable.” Then following a stand-alone “Walletsworth,” the group entwined “Escape Goat,” “Push the Pig,” “Resolution,” “Plunger” and “The Floor.”

This then gave way to the collective three-song encore. moe. original “Happy Hour Hero” came first, with Umphrey’s joined by Chuck Garvey and Al Schnier on guitars, Nate Wilson on keys and Jim Loughlin on percussion. In addition, moe. drummer Vinnie Amico swapped in for Scotty Zwang and bassist Rob Derhak replaced Ryan Stasik. A cover of “That’s What Love Will Make You Do” came next with the core Umphrey’s lineup in place along with Emma Derhak on vocals, Garvey on guitar and Loughlin on percussion, with Amico sitting in for Zwang once again. Finally on UM’s “Partyin’ Peeps,” the group was expanded with Garvey and Loughlin.

The moe.mentUM tour closes out this weekend, with shows at Evans Amphitheater – Cain Park in Cleveland Heights, OH tonight, then Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL on Saturday.
