New Orleands Mayor LaToya Cantrell has recommended that no large events take place in New Orleans for the remainder of 2020 to protected against the spread of coronavirus.
“My recommendation is absolutely no large events such as French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest, even Essence Festival, as it related to the year 2020,” Cantrell said in a statement. “The focus should shift to 2021.”
According to WWL Radio, “the mayor said she has spoken about it to organizers of some events, and said ‘from a collaborative manner, you’ll see signs of change.'”
In addition to the festivals listed above, other events such as Voodoo Festival and Satchmo Summerfest would be affected, along with many more.

April 15, 2020 at 5:48 pmI’m a leader not a follower. I am a alpha wolf and not a sheep either. Got a flu shot one time in my life 15 years ago and I got the flu so bad I almost died. Never again !! more people die of heart attacks strokes and car wrecks in one day than this so called coronavirus. Don’t believe the hype

April 15, 2020 at 1:24 pmThis virus has killed less peoe than the seasonal flu did last year. In the US 57K people died from the flu. The media is scaring you

April 15, 2020 at 2:02 pmYou sir, are a fool. I hope your stupidity doesn’t cost you, or anyone around you, your life. Comic relief to read your insights suggesting you know more than the experts. Care to share your credentials and demonstrate your work where you were able to prove your comparison between covid and flu virus’? There are quite a few SCIENTISTS who would be interested in a solution.
nobody in particular
April 15, 2020 at 3:25 pmDial it back a little, man. Flu data are easy to find and drT is right about the numbers. We’ve gotta remember, though, that the C19 numbers are for a month, not a whole “season,” and the hospital overflow is a real possibility in the short run. Everybody knows what an exponential curve is. But it isn’t crazy to question the panic, and it damn sure isn’t crazy to question whether the pharmaceutical industry will save us.
Let’s not let them push us into this hyped-up rhetoric…we’ll all lose.

April 15, 2020 at 11:49 amI totally agree with you… while this really fucking sucks (I’d finally had tix to JazzFest… a bucketlist item for YEARS), the fact is that until there is a way to control the virus MUCH better than today, we all need to accept we are in a new world. Kicking, screaming, etc. is not going to change anything. I’d love to be wrong but, at least for my brain, it’s easier to start accepting things will be different rather than deny and cry…

April 15, 2020 at 12:10 pmDr. Rosenpenis, let’s see… create the virus in a lab then force vaccinate everyone for said virus? You might sign up but nobody is injecting me with anything so I can see live music in a large group. No bucket list should include living in 1984

April 15, 2020 at 1:56 pmYou have obviously been couped up in your brain for way too long. I hope you find the help you need, or else land a spot on SNL where you can continue your career in humor!

April 15, 2020 at 3:37 pmyo are right SNL is Not funny. I wasn;t trying to be either. I’m complying with the stay-at-home, distancing and so forth. my comment was about the flu shot and how it is becoming growingly mandatory. I don’t want the Wuhan virus either, therefore, I won;t be getting it injected into my arm. you do you, but there’s nothing wrong with my brain…i use it to think, not to bow and nod
