New Orleands Mayor LaToya Cantrell has recommended that no large events take place in New Orleans for the remainder of 2020 to protected against the spread of coronavirus.

“My recommendation is absolutely no large events such as French Quarter Fest and Jazz Fest, even Essence Festival, as it related to the year 2020,” Cantrell said in a statement. “The focus should shift to 2021.”

According to WWL Radio, “the mayor said she has spoken about it to organizers of some events, and said ‘from a collaborative manner, you’ll see signs of change.'”

In addition to the festivals listed above, other events such as Voodoo Festival and Satchmo Summerfest would be affected, along with many more.
