Saxophonist Skerik and percussionist Mike Dillon took the stage with their good friends Galactic last night at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill in New York City. The show, which was a benefit for the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, also featured performances by Garaj Mahal, Bonerama and Skeriks Syncopated Septet. Dillon (Critters Buggin, Les Claypool) came out during the second song of the night, Moog Marmalade, and remained for the rest of the first set. During Blackbird Special a nine-piece horn section, including members of Bonerama and Skeriks Syncopated Septet, took the stage. Skerik then joined in for Doublewide -> Black Eyed Pea. He returned for Bakers Dozen, along with Cheme (Robert Walters 20th Congress). Both Skerik and Dillon are also are members of Garage A Trois, with Galactic drummer Stanton Moore and 8-string guitarist Charlie Hunter.
Throughout the night, Galactic showcased material off its new album, Rawkus, due out on October 9. The band plays tonight at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ. For the complete schedule, visit www.galacticfunk.com.
