Given Warren Haynes’ ubiquity it is quite apt that we close out today’s ‘Latest’ as we began it, with some Hayes Happenings. On Friday night the guitarist was at the Tribeca Rock Club for the first night of the Duo’s residency at the club. Haynes stepped up during ‘Misty Mountain Hop,’ while Joe Russo (drums) and Marco Benevento (organ) were joined by RANA’s Scott Metzger for a set of instrumental Zeppelin. Haynes borrowed Metzger’s Les Paul and remained for Black Sabbath’s ‘The Wizard.’
Two and a half days later when Haynes commandeered New York’s Q104.3 for an hour noon DJ slot, he did not spin any Zeppelin or Sabbath, opting instead for, amng others, The Beatles, Hendrix and Traffic. As for the Duo, Russo and Benevento are in Boston tonight to begin their Paradise residency.
